Design, Integrate, Analyze, and Manage FAQ
Here are some comprehensive answers to all the questions asked in our recent webinar.
Schematic Capture | PCB Layout | General
Schematic Capture
There are convenient shortcuts to line items in the workflow - you may have a reason to revisit some items. There are no check boxes at this time.
Yes - you can create custom ERCs.
Sigrity X technology is integrated within System Capture, so what you’ll need to do is identify the input source pin, VRM, and pass through components as well as sync them.
System Capture will automatically identify serially connected passive components (RLC) as an XNet.
System Level Design is very important to many of our customers and has been considered by our development team and is on the roadmap for future releases of Allegro X.
PCB Layout
This feature is currently not available.
It should not be disabled. If you are still seeing this, please reach out to Cadence Support.
Yes, it includes material information.
Once Pulse establishes a link, for the subsequent schematic commits labeled as Ready for Layout, Pulse sends notifications to the layout designers. A new icon in the status bar of the PCB Editor represents that schematic update is available and the Schematic Sync Status changes in the Allegro X Pulse Status window. You can also view the schematic version available for update.
When the electrical engineer checked in his changes, he added comments to reflect what changes had been made as part of the revision.
An image is already attached. There is a little green PCB that’s linked which shows the selected area and the comment it’s attached to. When you click on it, you can see a snapshot of the design.
General
Pulse is exclusive to designs in Allegro X System Capture and PCB Editor.
In short, OrCAD X is ideal for individuals and small to mid-sized businesses working on projects focused on quick turn PCB design. While Allegro X is suited for enterprise level customers working on high-complexity designs requiring advanced capabilities, collaboration, high-performance, ZTNA infrastructure, and scalability.
As of now it’s only available in PCB, but there are plans to add comments to APD.
The biggest differences are in terms of product performance, enhanced integrations into analysis, and integration into Allegro X AI. The base tool has not changed, but new development is focused on Allegro X.
Our PCB web browser viewer will be released in Q1 of 2025 which will support viewing and commenting.
Yes, Pulse is integrated within the Allegro X Venture license.
